Omron E3AS

Omron's new E3AS Series changes the way you use reflective photoelectric sensors.

Retro-reflective sensors are used to detect difficult workpieces or where long sensing distance is needed. Designing with retro-reflective sensors is time consuming due to installation space constraints as the equipment gets sophisticated and complex. On the other hand, the E3AS Series allows for designing without reflectors.


The new E3AS Series Laser Sensors can reliably detect targets that cannot be detected with retro-reflective photoelectric sensors.

Its industry-first sensing algorithm reaches high-speed sampling at 10,000 times per second and OMRON’s unique accumulation processing system increases sensitivity by amplifying the slightest amount of light bounced off the target. The manufacturing technology adjusts the receiver lens position in the sensor to the micrometre level, enabling reliable detection of any target colour, material, and shape.

These technologies allow the E3AS Sensors to reliably detect curved and irregular shaped glossy automotive parts and multi-coloured and glossy food and packages. The E3AS Series Sensors can be used where retro-reflective photoelectric sensors are usually used and helps significantly reduce the time required to adjust the sensor installation position, angle and threshold values.
